Back to the old era?

Last saturday Shakira was performing in Rock in Rio, but this time in Madrid. She was singing for more than an hour and a half and, as it happened two years ago, the show was a hundred times better than the one she did in Lisboa. She seemed to be much comfortable and self-confident. The choreographies had less importance than in others shows, and Shakira prefered to enjoy the concert.

One of the highest moments of the night was when she sang Gitana. Shakira invited to La barbería del sur, a spanish flamenco band, to sing with her at the stage. They all togheter did a great intro to the song.

But, the most important thing of the show was that the colombian singer presented another song of her spanish upcoming album, after the embarrasing song opened in Lisboa, Gordita. This song is called Sale el sol, and I'm to glad to listen it, because it reminds me to the Pies descalzos and ¿Dónde están los ladrones? era. She dedicated the song to Gustavo Cerati, an Argentinian singer and a great friend of her who is hospitalized since last May. It has optimistic lyrics, with no reggaeton sound anymore, and no hips-shaking. Only the guitar, the drums, and her voice.

The song is about the good times that come after the bad ones. The transcription of the chorus part is something like: "A day after the storm, when you less wait for it, the sun will raise up", so optimistic.

I hope Shakira returns to the sounds of the beginning of her career, more simple but more effective.

Rock in Rio Lisboa

Shakira was performing last Friday on the Rock in Rio in Lisboa, just at the very same stage she sang two years ago. Her performance was the most
eagerly awaited, so that there was more than 80,000 people watching the show (double of the twice as much auddience as Elthon John had). I watched it the streaming online, and personally, I have to say that I was so disappointed with the show.

The tracklist was awful, Shakira sang all of her best-known songs like Ojos así, Whenever wherever, Te dejo Madrid, Don't Bother... but she seemed to forget that she just has a brand new album called "She wolf". And as far as she did so, only two of these new songs were performanced: Gypsy and She Wolf.

The best of the concert was that Shakira presented the single of her spanish upcoming album, called Mi
gordita, which have the collaboration of Rene, the singer of the band Calle 13. It was the best part because I was so impatient of listen it, but now I've done it, I can say that Mi gordita is the most shemful song of Shakira's discography. Not only because it is a half-reggaeton half-rap song, but the lyrics are sooo dirty and obscene. They say something abour having sex in a funeral parlol, acting like animals who only want to fuck... EMBARRASING

In short, I was waiting for something new, new songs, new perfomances, new choreography, news outfits... But Shakira did the same as always: shake her hips.

Arizona Immigration Bill

Shakira gave an interview to The Big 360 Interview on CNN about the Arizona immigration bill, on 29th April, and here's the transcription:

Question: So, I've been reading about your visit a little bit. You met the police chief and the mayor. And you know, one of the questions I ..... a good answer to Shakira is exactly how this law It's going to be implemented? Have you ever answered the question? when did you find out?

Answer: aah... yeah. Well, the mayor is very very worried as well as the chief of police here Chief Harry. They're both very worried on the impact that the implementation of this law will have on latino families. The level of abuse that will be inflected on latinos, with or without papers. Ah... You know, if this law was already in a fact today for example I could be detained and arrested and taking away, because I don't even have my driver license here. I mean, I'm completely undocumented here, today. So.. It's...

Q: So you didn't bring your papers to Arizona?

A: I didn't, no, seriously

Q: So this is an important point, because that's exactly what people are worried about.

A: I've just met with some families and... and women who ............. to domestic violence. And they are so concerned and its so suddenly because they feel they are gonna, that the government it's gonna trend their bags on them. They are gonna live in fear to call the police, or to report a crime that has been inflected to them. I really couldn't couldn't hold the tears when i was hearing this women speak of how, how concerned they are about their own safety. Women who are themselves trying to, they are trying, to protect their kids and their own families from abusers. And now they are gonna have to protect themselves from the government.

Q: Its part of your discussion today Shakira, is there other options, other solutions that you think should work. I mean, one think people do seem to react is maybe inmigrations laws are gonna to change in this country. They are talking about it today, quite videos you know... in Arizona for some time now. What do you think needs to be done?

A: Yeah, there is a true concern about arresting the immigrations law. The congress must act urgently on this issue to prevent that more states come out with this kind of law, that it's completely misrepresentative of the principles of liberty, freedom, of equality that America stands for. I think that so many people are gonna see themselves affected by this law in some ways that we can't even imagine. People who won't be able to use hospitals, state hospitals, or childcare programs, or food programs, or domestic violence's shelters. People who would live in fear in America. To me that's not something that I can conceive. I am not an expert on Constitution (right), but i know that the Constitution exists to protect the rights of every human being living in a country, with or without papers.

Q: Well Shakira, lot of people are obviously paying attention at the decision tonight, and over the next couple days Im sure and many of them because of you, so thank you so much for join us.

A: Thank you so much for the opportunity.

How nice she is...
